Day 25 (of 2024/25) @TheSpaceGal reignites Emily’s Science Lab
I love following the adventures of “The Space Gal” aka Emily Calandrelli on the social medias… can’t wait to see her shares from space – yep, gets to be an astronaut! She recently she turned her experiments from Emilys Wonder Lab (10 episodes on Netflix) to a NYTimes Best Seller… and now she is further controlling her own destiny with Emily’s Science Lab on Youtube:

Emily’s science lab takes an October focus for this episode: https://youtu.be/-WkxBRD4BK8?si=vJMVPic31D5U4rLP
Admittedly excluding one of my daughters who has a strong phobia to all things barf related…even titles!
Love the accessible format (5 minutes-ish) and showing the ingredients as well as how to do each step… highlighting that this one may be better outside… great way to introduce a chemical reaction (with science language) without pretending it’s how a volcano works.
Then modelling trying something not done before – using a watermelon… modelling how to transfer a skill that is tried and true into a slightly different setup – will the chemical reaction be the same in an organic container as it was in a plastic one? Test your theories!
Thanks Emily – easy to use instructions and a way to show a science reaction that can be done in a classroom or at home! And a great way to highlight your books so that more students can see… (to coincide with a phrase from my comic book influenced thinking) …see scientific progress go Boink!
Stay curious and keep exploring!!
