Day 29 (of 2024/25) Learning Leadership session: M&M Icebreaker & spirals
Check in based on M&M candies!
Red = something about yesterday;
Orange = something you do well;
Yellow = something about your childhood
Blue = something you learned last week
Brown = something you can’t live without
Green – something you watch or listen to
So then we shared a couple candies into our hand… of course I got 3 yellows and one blue… but of course I was already preplanning a response to each of these
For me, pre-thinking:
Red = how weird it was to find the borders pretty empty in the direction we were heading – usually anticipate a couple hour wait on Holiday long weekends, but both directions had us pretty much drive right up to Customs!
Orange = we anticipate that NOBODY will choose this one… and even I will deflect and share that I ‘read’ well… nice that it comes easy to me and that I enjoy the synthesis that occurs!
Yellow = having just visited my mom… got a bundle of stuff to look through, and it included “Ian’s Super Cookbook” – a good reminder that once upon a time I was thinking of having a pizza restaurant – yes, my family and friends agree it is ‘must eat dough’ – so I’m looking forward to looking back with embarrassment at some early thoughts
Blue = learned that there are a couple good comic books being recirculated – Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime and Groo the Wanderer – Minster
Brown = my wife says it’s my tech… it’s been a great equalizer for me, so … resistance is futile!
Green = Howard Stern Show; I am great at listening to podcasts – horrible when it comes to audiobooks… weird, eh?
Spirals of Inauiry folllowup (gonna give a shoutout to Apple Intelligence as I copied and pasted the wordings below from a photo…):
For Students:
- Can you name two people in this setting who believe you will be a success in life?
- What are you learning and why is it important?
- How is it gaing with your learning?
For Staff:
- Who are your champions and allies?
- Can you name two people you trust and will rely on for support and feedback in this inquiry?
- What are you learning from this inquiry and why is it important?
- How’S it going?
- What are your next steps?
Good thinking from todays learning session!
