Day 35 (of 2024/25) the dirty secret of some staff rooms…

I know! It’s hard to believe, but not all teachers get along. We have different schema, pedagogy, philosophies… views on students… on growth/fixed mindsets… and this is good as it can lead to some fun debate, discussion, and inquiry.

But…

Sometimes (fortunately NOT all the times) cliques and bullying can occur – even with adults…

Now, every province organizes teachers differently… and it will be interesting to follow how this investigation against a group of teachers for creating a toxic environment goes…

In BC, our teachers have codes…

…and standards to follow…

But sometimes even with clear codes… we are not always nice to each other… but sometimes, as with kids, the unwanted behaviours need to be brought to attention and things can get better… it need not be about consequences, it should be about making things better… hopefully this will be a good example for all environments to do some self reflection… even if things feel good, do they feel good for all?
