Day 76 (of 2024/25) traditions… change…

This year led to a couple of changes to tradition – at least my experience of school traditions. As an online school, we did not have a concert titled winter, that really is just a christmas concert going by another name… and all is well….

We had some gift cards for families via feeding futures (a government initiative) which is better than hoping some donations come in that we can share… but as the ministry of education AND child care – sometimes we will need to emphasize the “care”…

I didn’t write cards for staff… the one time of year I push my limits to using my unique font… but I am mindfully changing this tradition a bit (and let staff of this) to mark a new calendar year rather than tie it to varied religious observances that we try to pretend are not connected to when/why we take two weeks off school now… so calendar focused excitement for 2025!

Traditions are good and all, but I think it’s good to do some rethinks…. Landy family travelling on Christmas Day remains good… feast on Christmas Eve shifted to appies last year – and continues!! Christmas Eve pajamas now gifts of the past…just sibling gifts get opened the night before! Make changes a tradition! It’s how we discovered Klaus ~ a fabulous animated christmas movie that I fully recommend just as a great movie!
