Day 169 (of 2024/25) I might be getting too old for some of this…

A long while back I was asked to put forward a proposal to talk about how our school leveraged some connections via our comic book library and (now annual as we prep for #2) year-ending comic con (a better strategy for building connections than I dared hope a year ago… but the kids who have come to their “first school event  ever” last year and this year is simply humbling. 

But the travel… I don’t bounce back like I used to. Leaving after school to catch a red eye in Vancouver to make it to Toronto to help my daughter with some of her own prep work for the Toronto Comic Art Festival has left me pretty tired.  Though I did get to (finally) meet the amazing librarian Matthew Noe (noethematt.bsky.social) one of my favourite follows for years – and love that he’s connected with my daughter irregardless of my social media’s presences! 

But I was definitely off my a-game having not gotten more than a few moments of full rest overnight… and then getting used to the time change… sigh… at dinner I wanted to check in on the playoff game… that wouldn’t start for another two hours…

I’m not too old for learning this stuff – this just re-woke me after some 40 hours with minimal sleep – all nighters aren’t as fun as they were when. I was a student on a university campus, but still worthwhile!
