Day 173 (of 2024/25) with a fortnight to go… the days are just packed…
We still have two weeks plus an admin day for the 24/25 school year. And the days are packed… I could use an additional 4+ hours … but not 5pm-9pm, 4 hours compacted between 10 and 11…
I wish I was more Calvinist…

But we have a lot of worries about the upcoming gap… the 8 weeks when students and families lose connection with schools and teachers… even in an online school, relationships matter. Had some families come tour our building and ask some questions… some had experience with us and others and agreed with what I said is our ‘speciality’ – we don’t really compete with our competition online schools… we all tend to do things just a bit different and fit family needs different(iated)ly… but everything takes that key resource: time.
Summer is stressful. We can’t pretend that the gap-for-farming remains the best setup for a break between school years… even for the adults … it always takes me a few weeks to wind down and be ready to forget what day of the week it is. Who wants to talk about my 365 day school project? I first did it as a thinkpiece while at a complex school… but wondering if a flexible project might better meet an Information Age community – open for daycare support for families not privileged to work Mon-Fri shifts… but flexible (yes, that means $$$$) for adults. Not for discussion now, but just know that I’m always pondering about education – even when there’s not enough time in the day and I snooze during playoff intermissions…
