Day 45 (of SOL 2025) a ‘test’ for OK teachers…
Strike one – this ‘test’ for Oklahoma teachers is very biased, with some components specifically for more woke areas, rather than the preferred dozing/sleepwalking regions…
Strike two – it’s one of the worst formats (though easiest for a scantron result) and foul (strike 3 in a bit…) here are some samples via this news report: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ar-AA1KNaQe or another view via https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/20/education/oklahoma-woke-teacher-test.html
1. What are the first three words of the Constitution?
A. In God We Trust
B. Life, Liberty, Happiness
C. The United States
D. We the People
D – but factual recall means that there should be justifications for all answers that indicate why they would be distractions – ‘a’ appears on the US dollar bill even the question should clarify ‘which’ constitution… oh my, “invoking the guidance of almighty god” being OKs constitutions opening makes it clear that I would not be brought in to do a presentation….
2. Why is freedom of religion important to America’s identity?
A. It makes Christianity the national religion
B. It bans all forms of public worship
C. It limits religious teaching in public life
D. It protects religious choice from government control
“Why” indicates that there could be multiple correct assumption, such as not limiting who can be a head of state because of their beliefs… hmmm, apparently that’s not a good enough reason… why do I think ‘a’ would be an acceptable option on the scantron master copy?
3. What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress?
A. House of Lords and Commons
B. Courts and Senate
C. Executive and Legislative
D. Senate and House of Representatives
At least this question specifies which congress and hopefully it is clear that it’s “d”…
4. How many U.S. Senators are there?
A. 435
B. 110
C. 50
D. 100
I know some like to think there’s 52 states (and 2 senators per state…), but territories like Puerto Rico remain regions that are taxed without representation… why does that refrain sound familiar…?
5. Why do some states have more Representatives than others?
A. They cover a larger geographic area
B. They have held statehood for a longer period
C. The number is determined by military presence
D. Representation is determined by population size
The delightful reminder that ‘land doesn’t vote’ o while political maps show huge patches of colours, it’s the population density that matters, because (so far) all people have the right to vote (I note some being more vocal about removing that right from one gender…)
Oh, and a passing grade is 100% and statistically relying on multiple choice tests do result in simple errors being recorded… not sure what the % is needed on the connected citizenship test ok teachers also need to take… note: not all teachers, and applicants from New York and California will be also (wish I was making this up) focus on “the biological differences between the two genders.”
And yes, Strike 3: the test is made by Pragers U – noted for its extreme conservatism to the extreme of slavery being ‘not a big deal’… wow – makes me wish we just had to do the ParticipACTION/Presidents Physical tests in addition to our UNIVERSITY DEGREE(s)
