Day 40 (of 2025/26) is it just me, or is time feeling… off?

Day 40 (of 2025/26) is it just me, or is time feeling… off?

I was SO GLAD this morning when a teacher commented that it felt like a Thursday… because that is exactly how the day ‘felt’ to me as well… or is it just some of us who have a ‘feel’ for each day of the week? Today definitely had a Thursday smell and vibe to it… but I also already thought it was November… but I shaved today, so I knew that wasn’t right 😜 (#movember warning)

Maybe it’s because we are passed fall with the quasi secular observance that is hallowe’en coming up. Disguised as a ‘kids holiday’… modelling how two things can be true at the same time… kinda like how education is going through a couple of scans: for equity; for relevance; for what it can be… with a wide range of views appearing on social media – some yearning for the good old days… others pointing out that the old days weren’t all that good… good enough for most of us, but the future is about all ~ maybe why a recent chat with a new-ish teacher about UDL and inclusion had me link a connection that, as long as there are those in the education focusing on how to remove ‘that one student’ who is causing a/the problem, we won’t get to (as Shelly Moore puts it) “one without the other” … that we can’t reach the apex of what education ought to be until we are designing what we do with such a sense of inclusion that all students are considered for how we will work for them… and I admit that this is not easy… that there are easier ways (which is why exclusion and segregation work so well…) but those aren’t necessarily better… that they “work well on paper” (like platooning math groups) than they do in practice… and maybe it’s that double edged mindset that has me thinking….

It feels like a Thursday (but it’s monday)

November (nope, it’s October… no time change yet)

Something-teenth (29th… last of the 20s, right before hallowe’en and devils night <— what can I say, in rural BC I grew up with Detroit TV, and there was a lot of news about the tricks on this night moreso than any treats to mark the end of the month. https://outliermedia.org/devils-night-detroit-history-coleman-a-young-mike-duggan/

Is anyone else sitting in a duality of discomfort? It’s okay – the temperature is fine (though I’m wearing gloves and a toque… so maybe it’s a matter of perspective…?)

As the day went on, I felt more confident stating that the day felt ‘off’ as I got more and more confirmation to the vibe. Another day doing cool education stuff trying to make the journey better for those along for the ride… THAT feels like a wednesday! Got there in the end! I’m sure it has nothing to do with CERN…😜!
