Day 99 (of 2025/26) First world problems: paper mache edition #gsplayday2026
Heard a great complaint about the quality of newspaper today – clay based vs pulp (being in a town that used to have a pulp mill…)
Apparently it makes a difference in the craftiness for the arts… it also led to some shock when i shared that I didn’t recall using the snotty paper until grade 7… and never introduced it to students during art times when teaching elementary… other kids would bring it in and use it for projects, and that was fine… but never been for me.
Global School Play Day is about doing some things differently, and students coming to our online schools Study Hall were definitely surprised when adults were encouraging a day of play instead of lightning onto their dashboard. Different is good and maybe if I used papier maché earlier, I would’ve used it more later… nah – cardboard’s the way to build!
