Day 156 (of 2025/26) Highlighting Comic Con: Toby Price & Tytus the Monkey
Some traditions just become part of the story.

When we first launched our school Comic Con two years ago, we honestly weren’t sure what it would become. Would students come? Would they connect with creators? Would they see themselves as storytellers too?
One of the first people to jump in and say “yes” was Toby Price (@jedipadmaster).
Toby became the very first keynote speaker in our school Comic Con history and, somehow, between being a vice principal, educator, creator, and professional chaos coordinator, he has continued to return each year to support students and celebrate storytelling.
His Tytus the Monkey series has become a favourite with many of our students because it balances humour, adventure, and the kind of emotional honesty that sneaks up on you like a banana peel on a marble floor.
Starting with Mostly True Tales of Tytus the Monkey and continuing with Tytus the Monkey is NOT the Problem… This Time, Toby’s stories remind readers that growing up is messy, friendship matters, and sometimes the “problem” is a lot more complicated than it first appears.
There’s something pretty powerful about students meeting authors who also understand schools from the inside out. Toby gets the energy, the awkwardness, the imagination, and the absolute beautiful weirdness of kids.
We’re incredibly excited to welcome Toby back once again to our Comic Con.
Also… somewhere in all of this, I’m still trying to determine how much of the “mostly true” part is legally admissible. 🐒📖
